SharePoint Gurus have implemented the new intranet for the NSW State Emergency Service in collaboration with StepTwo.

StepTwo has conducted workshops with NSW SES stakeholders, volunteers and members across the state to develop the complex Information Architecture required to support both member and volunteer communities during operations and for training and information purposes.The intranet is implemented using SharePoint Online, Microsoft PowerBI and custom web-parts to support all requirements.Web-parts

The My SES web-part is a custom web-part that integrates with SAP, Active Directory, Microsoft Graph, Open Street Maps and a weather API.The web-part shows information related to the logged-in user. When a user is logged-in his or hers default unit will be set based on SAP data. The unit location will also determine the map information, weather conditions and severe weather warnings for the particular location. The web-part will also display key people from the unit.Due to the complex nature of the content for the intranet, metadata has been used on all documents, pages and assets. Custom search web-parts are utilised to surface critical data on relevant pages by using the page context. This will ensure that all up-to-date, approved information is available wherever the user is in context of the page.
