Uniting provides services in aged care, disability, community, early learning, education and training throughout NSW and the ACT.
Uniting was looking to modernise their current intranet using the Next Gen portals provided by Microsoft in Office 365. Uniting also wanted an intranet which was simple and easy to user which allowed anyone to become a content creator.
SharePoint Gurus worked closely with Uniting to build an award-winning out of the box functional intranet incorporating Valo features.
Uniting chose to implement Valo intranet as Valo is clear, intuitive, and easy to use. The Uniting intranet site is well designed and guarantees a good end user experience which ultimately enhances user satisfaction through innovative and useful functionality.
The News section within the Uniting portal site was a key emphasis and needed to be easy to create, navigate and differentiate for the end user. The Uniting portal site also incorporated quick links with popular resources, making them easily and readily available for all end users.
From the initiation of the project, SharePoint Gurus worked in collaboration with Uniting to establish key elements and requirements for the Uniting site to ensure the intranet would become the organisation’s one stop shop and single source of truth. Other key features within the portal site included a ‘Job Search’ functionality and a ‘People Finder’ which allowed employees to search for jobs and staff members within the organisation through the click of a button.
A key specific requirement for the Uniting project was to build functionality to allow users to search for Volunteering opportunities by both region and service categories. This functionality was incorporated into the site and was developed to be a simple and effective way for users to source information regarding volunteering opportunities.
Weekly sessions were held with SharePoint Gurus and key stakeholders within Uniting to ensure all requirements were being delivered within set time frames. Weekly catch ups were also crucial to ensure the Intranet site was being developed the way in which it was intended- to increase employee engagement and realise a critical connection in improving workplace culture.
The team at SharePoint Gurus continue to provide ongoing support to Uniting, ensuring their site is delivering an enhanced user experience whilst giving users the ability to collaborate remotely.
